WEEK 1: PRACTICAL

The first lecture was an introduction to our module where we were given a briefing about what to expect in the upcoming weeks. We also learned about the importance of Photoshop and why it is an essential to this module.

Tutorial / Practical

During this class, we were given instructions to create an E-Portfolio blog and a Pinterest board. Then, we were asked to find 3 graphic design compositions we liked and give an explanation as to why.

I’m drawn to this piece because it reminds me of my home, the Maldives. The integration of marine life with map elements feels deeply nostalgic and personal. The fish swimming across the chart gives the feeling of being surrounded by the ocean, and the colour palette gives a dreamy atmosphere that reflects island life.

Mountains have always fascinated me, perhaps because they’re so different from the flat horizon of the Maldives. The layered textures and flowing lines make the landscape feel alive, and I love how it invites me into an unfamiliar but intriguing world.

This artwork speaks to me with its vibrant, organic shapes. It reminds me of corals underwater but also resembles tropical flowers. That duality between sea and land, abstract and natural, feels very connected to my own identity.
